We live in a time full of unrest and disruption. An unsettling age. One of the primary functions of cinema is that it comforts: it takes us away for a moment from the actuality and it allows for extreme expression, the grotesque. The film presents a sharp and ironic journey through the history and future of image technology and AI.
Alexander Ernst Kluge (born 14 February 1932 in Halberstadt) is a German filmmaker, writer, philosopher and lawyer.
Kluge is considered one of the most versatile German intellectuals. He became known in the 1960s and 1970s as one of the most influential representatives of New German Cinema, which he co-founded and further developed in theory and practice. As an author, he made a name for himself primarily with short stories and was a member of the Gruppe 47 circle, as well as writing scientific and philosophical works. In 1987, he founded the production company dctp, with which he succeeded in creating a platform for independent programmes on German private television.
