In Lima in the summer of 1992, Elena and her daughters Lucia and Aurora are preparing to leave Peru, where social and political unrest is spreading, and head for the USA. With conflicting feelings the three face their farewells - from their country, from family and friends and from Carlos, their father and ex-husband, who has hasn’t been seen for a long time.

Klaudia Reynicke - 1983 PER

Klaudia Reynicke is a Swiss-Peruvian screenwriter and director who grew up in Peru, Switzerland, and the United States. In 2005, she attended the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, where she directed her first short film. She later earned a Master’s degree in Film Directing from the École Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne (ECAL) and the Haute École d’Art et de Design de Genève (HEAD).

Her debut feature film, Il Nido (2016), was selected at festivals such as Locarno, Santa Barbara, and Montevideo. Her second feature film, Love Me Tender (2019), also premiered in Locarno and was showcased at several prestigious festivals, including the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the BFI London Film Festival, the Sevilla European Film Festival, and Tallinn Black Nights.

Reinas is her third feature film.
