The Romance Scam begins with a script reading about a man who seduces women in order to scam them. Participants reveal personal stories, creating a live exploration of romantic love and its power. The film also examines cinema’s influence on love, desire, and the social, emotional, and political effects of media.
Barcelona, 1966. Multidisciplinary filmmaker. She holds a degree in Fine Arts, and her work moves between documentary and experimental or performative cinema.
Her latest feature film, Love Scam (2023), received the “Banda a parte” Award at the Días de Cine Awards (TVE), the Best Director Award at the Alcances Film Festival, and the Young Jury Award at Los trabajos y las noches festival. Her debut feature, The Jury (2012), was selected for the official competition at FID Marseille. The Tenth Letter (2015) premiered at the San Sebastián Film Festival and was nominated for the Forqué Awards. In 2018, she won the Best Short Film Award at the Málaga Film Festival with Improvisations of a Squirrel. She has made more than ten short films, and several festivals have presented retrospectives of her work.
Her video work has been exhibited at institutions such as MACBA, MNCARS, CCCB, and Tate Gallery, and in 2022 she was nominated for the Catalonia Video Creation Award.
