THE FILM SELECTION AT BFFB 2022
Bolzano Film Festival Bozen is South Tyrol’s first and largest international film festival and will take place for the 35th time in Bolzano from 05 – 10 April 2022.
Every year, around 50 feature films, documentaries and short films are shown, and up to 8 selected feature films and documentaries compete in the competition for the prize for the best feature film from the Province of South Tyrol (endowed with 5,000 euros), the prize for the best documentary film from the Sparkasse Foundation (endowed with 5,000 euros) and the Audience Award from the City of Bolzano (which takes equal account of both genres, endowed with 2,000 euros), as well as the Golden Walther Award, donated by Signa AG, which honours the best film in the Made in South Tyrol series.
Throughout the year, the festival team is also busy looking for suitable films at film festivals for the annual festival in April or checking the recommendations of numerous festival partners. Film submissions that reach us directly via the filmmakers are of course also welcome; the portal will be activated from October 2021.
For the entire programme as well as for the competition films in 2022, mainly new feature films and documentaries made after 2021 from Italy, Austria, Germany and Switzerland will be considered, as well as annually from another guest country. Apart from films that are of special interest to the festival and those that will be shown in a retrospective, the films should not have been shown in South Tyrol before.
