Levin Peter was born in 1985 in Jena, Germany. During his studies at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, he directed several documentary films that were screened at festivals worldwide. His graduation film, Hinter dem Schneesturm, won the First Steps Award and was presented as a guest at the Berlinale.
In 2016, he co-founded the production company RAUMZEITFILM in Vienna with Elsa Kremser. Their film SPACE DOGS premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival, won the Vienna Film Award for Best Austrian Film, was shown at over 70 international festivals, and was nominated for both the Austrian and German Film Awards.
Levin Peter has been awarded the Gerd Ruge Fellowship, the Nipkow Fellowship, and the ExtraValue Artist Residency in New York. He has been a guest lecturer at film schools and universities such as HFF Munich, TU Vienna, and the University of Rostock. Additionally, he has served as a jury member for Visions du Réel and the This Human World Film Festival in Vienna.
He is currently working with Elsa Kremser as a directing duo on their first feature film.
