Two friends and work colleagues, both married to women, have unexpected experiences that cause them to rethink their understanding of sexuality, gender and identity. One has a random sexual encounter with another man and the other is plagued by recurring nightly dreams in which he is perceived as a woman.
Born in 1964, he is a screenwriter and director known for his critically acclaimed novels, feature films, and short films. His feature film I Belong (2012) won the Amanda Award and the Canon Awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress (Laila Goody).
With Beware of Children (2019), he achieved overwhelming success, winning the Dragon Award for Best Nordic Film and Best Actor (Henriette Steenstrup) at the Göteborg Film Festival. Following its international premiere in Venice, the film set a record by winning nine Amanda Awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor. Additionally, it received the Norwegian Film Critics’ Award, the Sølvklumpen Prize for Norwegian cinema, and the prestigious Nordic Council Film Prize.
In addition to his work in cinema, he has published several novels with Oktober publishing house and directed a series of critically acclaimed short films. Sex, the first installment of the Sex-Love-Dreams trilogy, premiered at Berlinale 2024 – Panorama, where it won three awards.
