On a remote volcanic island that everyone wants to leave, little Nana learns to stay. As her mother Nia fled into exile shortly after her birth, Nana has grown up with her father's family. Nana develops a high fever and is sent to the foot of a volcano for treatment. There she discovers a world between dream and reality, steeped in magical realism.
Born in 1990 in Lisbon, Portugal. Swiss citizenship. From 2008 to 2011, she studied at CISA (Conservatorio Internazionale di Scienze Audiovisive) in Lugano. From 2011 to 2013, she attended the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV in Cuba. Her short films BREAD WITHOUT JAM (2012) was awarded as an emerging film at the Solothurn Film Festival, and IDYLLIUM (2013) at the Winterthur International Short Film Festival. Her first feature film HANAMI was selected from seventy projects for the Solothurn Talent Lab in 2016 and was awarded Best Debut Project by the Swiss Society of Authors (SSA). HANAMI (2024) premiered as part of the Concorso Cineasti del presente at Locarno.
