Margherita Spampinato, born in Palermo, graduated in Literature and Philosophy from the University La Sapienza in Rome. She started working in film in Paris and, after returning to Rome, worked as a production secretary on over 30 films and handled casting for films and series. As a director, she made the short films Tommasina and Segreti; Gioia Mia is her first feature film.
