América (2010)

Mosquito (2020)

João Nuno Pinto (1969), born in Mozambique and moved to Portugal at age five, studied directing at the New York Film Academy. After working as an art director and directing commercials, he gained attention with his debut feature América (2010), portraying contemporary Portugal through the eyes of illegal immigrants. Mosquito (2020) was inspired by his grandfather’s life. He is now based in Lisbon.
